Sources Suggest, The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come up with 2 options regarding the class 12 CBSE Board examinations.

The 2 options that CBSE has proposed to the Education Ministry are:

1. CBSE Suggested to host the examination only for the major subjects in the “Existing Format” at the allotted examination centres.

For the minor subjects, Marks can be calculated on the basis of performance in the major subjects.

This option can only be executed if the National Board has at least 3 months in its hands as this option will require a month for the pre-exam activities and their submissions, 2 months for conducting exams and release of results and then 45 more days for the compartment examination.

2. Second Option that CBSE suggested is Examination can be conducted for the major subjects and the duration of the exam can be cut down from 3 hours to 1 hour and 30 minutes with a change in format: The Question paper should only include objective and short answer type questions. In this case, Students will sit in their own schools and will appear for 4 major subject’s examinations out of which 1 should be a language compulsorily. Marks for the 5th and 6th subject will be calculated on the basis of performance in the major subject’s exams.

If the Education ministry agrees to the second option, then the number of examination centres will have to be doubled the existing number but the examinations will wind up in a matter of 45 days only.

Also, If the govt agrees to the adoption of the second option for the CBSE class 12 Board examination 2021, The examination will be conducted in two phases based on the COVID-19 situations across the country.

- The locations under conducive situation will have examinations in the first phase and the others in the second phase.

- There will be a gap of 2 weeks between both the phases.

There is going to be a meeting with the State Education Minister along with their secretaries on 23rd May 2021, Sunday.

The meeting will also have the presence of the Education Minister and the Women and Child Development Minister.

This meeting is going to be chaired by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and he will discuss all the pros and cons of both the suggested options by the state board.

The Ministry had announced that it will first review the situation of the ongoing pandemic in the country on June 1 and only after analysing the situation the ministry will decide the final dates of the Class 12 CBSE Board examinations. The meeting with board and state government has been called to finalise 1 out of the Two options that has been proposed by CBSE.
