Covid-19 has been impacting each and every sphere of life. From attending online classes to appearing for online proctored exams, 2020 was a year full of new beginnings in the education system. While taking all possible measures and precautions, the government decided to hold class XII CBSE exams in the offline mode. But the second wave of the pandemic has hit hard with lockdown news from all over the country. The number of cases in Mumbai and in other states have increased exponentially which resulted in a major step taken by the government, that was to postpone class XII CBSE exams and cancel class X exams.

The uncertainties have been increasing but this has not stopped admission in private universities. Be it deemed universities or private universities, no one is waiting for board exams any more. Each university is conducting online admission process.

Moreover, adding to the havoc in the academic calendar there are speculations that 41 central universities which will be conducting a Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) in order to reduce reliability on class XII merit. This implies that no postponed or cancelled exams will really affect the admission process.

Private universities had started their admission process in November 2020 and are ready to give provisional admission to students based on their predicted scores in class XII, scores in the entrance exams, personal interviews, group discussions and past academic performance. Each university has their own admission process through which they are giving out conditional offers to students.

The first and foremost thing is to not panic. Students now will get ample time for preparing for their board exams as well as for their entrance exams. Students have been preparing for their board exams for an entire year now and have received enough extended time to devote to their studies. Now the most important thing to consider is to start preparing for the entrance exams. Colleges and universities are not waiting for the lockdown to be over or for covid-19 to end. The admission process is as much in process as it has been over the year.

1. Stay calm. Nothing is more important than your mental and physical well-being. There is a right way of doing everything. Do not lose hope.

2. Believe in yourself. There is never a better time for anything. The postponed board exams have given you more time to focus on your entrances. You have been preparing for your boards for over a year now. So stay firm, do not underestimate your preparation.

3. Prepare in advance. Now, the scenario is quite unpredictable. Keep your board exam preparations on. Do not forget your boards. Practice in small quantities every day.

4. Entrance exams. No university or college will wait for situations to be better. So do not depend on the uncertainties. The ample time you have received is for your betterment. Prepare for your entrance exams. Give maximum time to entrance exam preparations.

5. The 70-30 preparation. Spend 70% of your time on your entrance test preparation and 30% of your time on your board exam preparation. Keep the practice of both things parallel.
