National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance exam offers admission in fashion design programmes. Every year, more than 20,000 students appear for NIFT exam.

On the basis of NIFT exam, candidates can secure admission in courses such as  Bachelor of Design (BDes), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech).

NIFT entrance exam pattern is three tiered in its format for BDes and MDes course admissions. As part of the NIFT entrance exam 2020 candidates need to first appear for Creative Ability Test (CAT) which is followed by a General Ability Test (GAT). The final admission round for BDes course is a Situation Test and that for MDes is GD/PI round. On the other hand, for BFTech course admissions candidates need to appear for GAT only whereas for MFTech and MFM programmes candidates need to appear for GAT and GD/PI admission round.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2020 PROCESS

NIFT is popular all over the country for its design, management and technology programmes on offer at its 16 centres. Candidates will be eligible to secure admission at NIFT on the basis of the ranks they secure in the entrance test. The steps that candidates need to follow in order to secure admission in any design course offered at NIFT campuses is listed below:

Step 1: Fill NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form

Candidates can fill NIFT Entrance Exam 2020 application form online on the official website of the design school. Candidates need to pay their application fee by credit/debit card or the same can be paid by means of a Demand Draft (DD). Applicants are advised to keep a print out/ photocopy of their NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form for reference along with proof of payment.

Step 2: Download NIFT Admit Card

After duly filling the application forms, candidates are required to download their NIFT Entrance Exam admit card 2020 from the official website of NIFT. Candidates will be informed that they need to download their admit card from the official website only and no separate communication will be sent to them by Post.

Step 3: Give NIFT 2020 Entrance Exam

In the NIFT Entrance Test, evaluation is done on different parameters such as aptitude, skill and knowledge. NIFT entrance exam is constructed into four sections which are - 1.Creative ability test (CAT),2. General ability test (GAT), 3.Situation test and 4.Group discussion/ Personal Interview. 

Step 4: Appearing for NIFT 2020 Situation Test or GD/PI

After clearing NIFT entrance exam for BDes course admission then need to appear for the Situation Test round wherein their material handling ability is tested. On the other hand, aspirants taking the design entrance exam for MDes course admission need to appear for the Group Discussion/Personal Interview round. 

Step 5: Check NIFT Entrance Exam Results

The final NIFT results will be displayed in the official website of the design college. Candidates can view their result for NIFT admissions by filling their roll number on the official website. 

Step 6: Take Part in NIFT Counselling

Candidates will be called for NIFT counselling process as per their rank in NIFT entrance exam 2020. Separate counselling process is conducted for different design course admissions. NIFT authorities conduct a centralised counselling process for NIFT admissions in different design programmes.

Candidates need to follow the below mentioned steps in order to successfully take part in NIFT counselling round for admissions 2020.

Step 1: Register on the official NIFT website

In order to take part in NIFT counselling process 2020, candidates need to register on the official website of National Institute of Fashion Technology by providing their – NIFT application form number, date of birth and password.

Step 2: Receive NIFT system generated letter

As soon as candidates successfully register on NIFT’s official website they are sent a system generated letter containing details of the Nodal Officer along with a list of important documents required for NIFT counselling and admission. Aspirants need to carry the below mentioned documents for NIFT counselling 2020 in original along with photocopies:

Aspirants are informed that if any of the above mentioned documents required for NIFT counselling are in any other language apart from Hindi/English, then aspirants need to ensure that the same document is translated in English/ Hindi and the translation is duly verified by the “issuing institution/gazetted officer/Self attested (original and photocopy) by the candidate at the time of Counselling / Admission”, as per the official NIFT website. If a candidate fails to produce the document with requisite authentic translation then his/her candidature might get cancelled.

Step 3: Take part in NIFT Counselling round & get documents verified

On the day of the counselling, aspirants need to report at their allotted NIFT counselling centre at 9:30 am sharp. Candidates need to carry documents along with photocopies to their NIFT counselling centre. “Original certificates are returned except the medical certificate after verification”, 

Step 4: Take part in NIFT Seat Allocation Process

After the document verification process is over, candidates need to take part in NIFT seat allocation process. Here, candidates need to select the college/seat by clicking on its name on a monitor in the presence of the Nodal Officer for NIFT admissions 2020.

Step 5: Pay the Admission Fee

Next, if a candidate is offered a seat for NIFT admission at any of the National Institutes of Fashion Technology campuses then they need to pay the notified fee immediately. The official website informs: "If a candidate fails to pay the fee, after the seat has been offered, the offer will be withdrawn and the seat will be allotted to the next candidate on the merit list. Payment through cash/cheque or partial payment is  not be accepted under any circumstances".

Step 6: Receive Allotment Letter

Once all the above mentioned steps are completed, the candidate is issued an allotment letter or admission receipt that is duly signed by the Nodal Officer of the NIFT Campus. Once this receipt is received the candidate cannot make any alterations in the course/campus selected by him/her for admission.

Steps to Download NIFT Entrance Exam 2020 Admit Card

Step 1: Visit NIFT entrance exam official website.

Step 2: Click on NIFT Admit Card tab/link-  Direct link to download NIFT Admit Card 2019. 

Step 3: Enter any two details from – Application Number (6 digit), Date of Birth or Email ID.

Step 4: Click on 'Submit' button

Step 5: View and download NIFT admit card.

Step 6: Take a clear print of NIFT entrance exam 2020 admit card.

Candidates need to positively download and take a clear print of their NIFT admit card. Aspirants are informed that they will not be allowed to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam 2020 if they are not carrying a valid NIFT admit card to their allotted NIFT exam centre on the day of the design entrance examination.

 Step to fill NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form 2020

Candidates need to fill their application form for NIFT exam online on the official website of the national level design entrance exam. Candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps to fill the application form for NIFT Entrance Exam 2020:

Step 1: Create ‘Login ID’

In order to successfully register for NIFT entrance exam, aspirants need to visit the official website of the design school and create a login ID. Details that candidates need to provide to create their NIFT login ID are as mentioned below:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Category
  • Email ID
  • Programme applied for admission

Once all these details are submitted a window opens on the screen which states that an acknowledgement has been sent at the email address mentioned in the application form for NIFT admission by the aspirant. Further, candidates need to login on the official website using the email ID and date of birth mentioned by them while creating the login ID.Once these details are provided, NIFT login ID is created. Also, candidates need to note that details provided by them in their login ID cannot be modified at a later stage. Thus, they need to fill this information very carefully.

Step 2: Fill NIFT 2020 Application Form

After creating the login ID, candidates need to fill the below mentioned details in the NIFT application form:

Step 3: Upload Photograph & Signature

Candidates are required to upload their photograph and signature with the NIFT entrance exam application form. Both of the files have to be uploaded in jpg/jpeg format and it should be less than 50 KB in size.

Step 4: Pay NIFT Admissions Application Fee

Next, aspirants need to pay the application fee for NIFT entrance exam which they can pay online (by means of Credit Card/Debit Card/Netbanking) or by Demand Draft (DD).

Aspirants who opt to pay NIFT application fee through DD need to make sure that the NIFT Demand Draft is drawn in favour of “NIFT HO” and is payable at New Delhi. NIFT application  form DD requires details such as the candidate’s name, date, fee amount and signature of the issuing authority.
